Our main objectives are listed below :

1. Fish habitat restoration is to be done in 18 of the main tributaries of the Pokemouche river over a five year period. This will be done with the assistance of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources & Energy. No work will be carried out without a watercourse alteration permit from the New Brunswick Department of the Environment. We also plan to install stream incubators for salmonids in each of these tributaries with a capacity of breeding 20,000 eggs per year. Therefore, fish paradises will be created and the increase in salmonid population in these streams will certainly have a positive impact on the main river over the long term.

2. Regular sampling and testing of water will be done along the main river and tributaries identified above. Statistics will be kept on water temperatures, chemical / organic / mineral contents, quantity of all species of fish, the wildlife / flora in the environment, etc. This is essential in order to monitor the health of each stream and also to plan along term conservation and development measures.

3. Coordinate necessary activities with the Atlantic Salmon Federation and the New Brunswick Department of Education so all schools in our region are involved in the Fish Friends Program. Make regular presentations at these schools to explain our conservation and development projects and organize activities which will keep these children interested and supportive. What is hereby proposed is dedicated mainly to their generation and we are confident everyone will want to give a helping hand.

4. Introduce the River Watch Program with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources & Energy and the RCMP's Crime Stopper Program.

5. Develop and coordinate a Public Awareness Program to achieve the following :
- increased awareness of impacts from land use activities (inform the public on how these activities should be done in order to prevent any negative impacts on our environment);
- increased involvement among youth, families and/or other partners;
- increased profile in the community;
- increased volunteer participation/commitment; and
- increased membership
Our personnel will also attend meetings as guest speakers and promote our activities at festivals, expositions, etc.

6. Become an active partner for the Sustained Development Program adopted by the Province of New-Brunswick. Support all efforts to achieve the goals adopted under the watershed management plan.

7. Coordinate the Adopt-a-Stream Program with the New-Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy. Encourage the participation of local organization and provide necessary training to their members. the intention is to have one organization responsible for the regular maintenance of each stream where fish habitat restoration has been completed. These organizations will also be responsible for the stream incubators noted under item no.1 above. A manual will be prepared for each organization in which they will find every information needed to do this work.

8. Establish 9 access sites along the Pokemouche river which will meet minimum environmental standards. Eliminate the many dozen of other access sites presently utilized by encouraging the public to do their share of the work. These sites are presently bringing tons of sediments and other toxic materials in our tributaries and rivers.

9. Develop solid partnerships with other federal, provincial and local governments and any organization, company or person interested by our activities.
